It’s possible that this is another floating of a Russian trial balloon or a test for the Biden White House. But I doubt it. This is probably Putin’s idea of having some fun via geopolitics. Indeed, this is more about the Kremlin blowing smoke than anything else. The Americans would be wise not to take the Russian bait. It may even be a signal of Putin’s weakness (or desperation) in trying to stop the “Westernization” of Ukraine.
