On his next-to-last day in office, Trump granted the Venezuelans Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) protection. It was a reprieve from deportation, but more of a promise than a guarantee. TPS, on the other hand, is statutory and allows those covered to stay for at least 18 months. Biden could extend it if he determines that conditions in Venezuela have not improved.
