The action begins with Adelaida Falcón at the funeral of her mother, her only family in Caracas, where she was born and where her mother was a teacher. At 38 years old, vital lessons learned from her mother and the bitterness unleashed by powerlessness in the face of barbarism, she feels her world is crumbling in the middle of a city taken over by unstoppable violence.
