“The Government has not vaccinated 90% of front-line health personnel against COVID-19,” according to the Venezuelan Medical Federation (FMV). I deny what was said by the Minister of Health, Carlos Alvarado. “It is a vile and shameless lie. We must make a call to this man so that he does not continue lying like President Nicolás Maduro who announced that 1.3 million vaccines have arrived in the country,” said the president of the FMV, Douglas León Natera, through a statement. For Venezuelan hospital security guard Yurymay Diaz to buy a full cart of groceries and put aside enough money to buy new shoes for her daughter, it took two special bonus payments worth nearly 20 times her monthly salary. The two $100 deposits to the 48-year-old mother of two in September and October did not come from the Caracas hospital where she works, but rather from funds seized by the United States from the government of President Nicolas Maduro.
