Less than a month after he was brought on to represent Donald Trump in court proceedings related to the classified documents found during the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, attorney Chris Kise — a former Florida solicitor general considered to be the most experienced member of the ex-president’s legal team — is said to have been sidelined from the case, two sources familiar with the move have told CNN. Questions about Kise’s ability to properly represent Trump in the case involving classified documents have arisen since, as a registered foreign agent of the government of Venezuela, the Florida attorney may have a difficult time obtaining the necessary security clearances to view the underlying top secret documents that are at the center of the case.

Biden Gambles That ‘We the People’ Still Exist https://onvenezuela.com/biden-gambles-that-we-the-people-still-exist/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=biden-gambles-that-we-the-people-still-exist Tue, 06 Sep 2022 04:01:00 +0000 https://onvenezuela.com/?p=15881

MAGA Republicans are rather a threat because their leader does not accept the outcome of elections when he loses them; because he does not believe that the rule of law applies to him; because he does not adhere to the culture of restraint, tolerance, and moderation; and because he is now seeking to help elect other politicians who feel the same way. In their drive to change the political system, and to ensure that they can retain power even if they lose, Trump’s followers have verbally and sometimes physically attacked Capitol police officers, election workers, the FBI, the Department of Justice, and civil servants. He and his acolytes use violent language, and they inspire violence in return. As Biden put it last night, they “tried everything last time to nullify the votes of 81 million people. This time, they’re determined to succeed in thwarting the will of the people.” By Anne Applebaum. Full Text -> TheAtlantic

Neither candidate will inherit a clear road map on how to lead an international coalition in restoring Venezuelan democracy, or even exacting any meaningful concessions from the regime of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. As it stands, the U.S. stance is that Maduro should step down, but his power remains firmly entrenched in Caracas while the country continues on a disastrous socioeconomic decline.. Is Trump committed to a democratic Venezuela? President Trump often talks tough in public about Venezuela’s dictatorship, but in his tell-all book, John Bolton, the president’s former national security adviser, suggests it’s just to win votes in Florida. In his own version of how it happened, Bolton never stopped to assess the very complex target — a hardened criminal regime, not just another tropical dictator. If he ever asked the intelligence community to do its job, he might have realized that the strategy was a ruse served up by Maduro’s Cuban handlers. (Or he might have discovered an intelligence community utterly doubled-up by Cuban intelligence.) Instead, Bolton and senior advisers ruled out the use of force without weighing options for posing a credible threat and without informing the commander-in-chief who had sought such options expressly and repeatedly.
