Politician Hugo Rafael Chavez Frías was president of Venezuela from 1999 until 2013. He led the Fifth Republic Movement political party from its foundation in 1997 until 2007. The party later joined many other parties to form the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), which Chavez led until 2012. The leader died on March 5, 2013 at the age of 58, bringing an end to the adventurous life of one of Latin America’s most staggering personalities.
