Former Mexican President Felipe Calderón, who ruled Mexico from 2006 to 2012, dismisses his proposal for an “armed rebellion” in Mexico and Venezuela, even though such a proposal was said and videotaped during a public conference. In the recording, Calderón proposed to analyze a strategy of “armed rebellion” for Venezuela, but also for Mexico and other countries where the plague of populism is raging.
Referring to what should be done to confront populism, he pointed out: “mobilization, public participation, dialogue, the call for international solidarity, force and even the possibility always open” but added “- but, geez, pragmatically, honestly, let’s analyze it – of armed rebellion. ” Venezuela has suffered so much and our countries are speeding down this path of suffering, that we have the responsibility to think, with our feet on the ground, a burning heart, but a very cool head, about what we have to do, ”he said.
