VENEZUELA’S AUTOCRATIC regime has been looking increasingly shaky in recent weeks as it struggled with the spread of covid-19 alongside a desperate shortage of gasoline. Then came an extraordinary propaganda windfall: Venezuelan forces intercepted two groups of would-be insurgents who landed on the coast last weekend with the apparent aim of arresting President Nicolás Maduro and other top leaders.
