Venezuela violated jurist’s rights, UN Human Rights Committee says

In the decision, the Committee requested that Venezuela declare the criminal proceedings against Allan Brewer Carías null and void, and that he be awarded adequate compensation. It also called for the State to take steps to prevent the recurrence of such violations. Mr. Carías has been living in the United States since 2005, unable to return to his country for fear of being arrested and detained. Full Text -> UNNews

Traducción de corte-> En la decisión, el Comité solicitó a Venezuela que declare nulo y sin efecto el proceso penal contra Allan Brewer Carías, y que se le otorgue una indemnización adecuada. Asimismo, instó al Estado a tomar medidas para prevenir la repetición de tales violaciones. El Sr. Carías vive en Estados Unidos desde 2005, sin poder regresar a su país por temor a ser arrestado y detenido.
